Information on Portsmouth Harbour Station
Portsmouth Harbour Station opened in 1876 as the terminus to the Portsmouth Waterside Extension to the Portsmouth Direct Line which runs between Portsmouth Harbour and London Waterloo Station. The station is situated beside the Gunwharf Quays in the city’s harbour and forming and important transport terminal with a bus interchange and ferry services to Gosport and the Isle of Wight.
Portsmouth Harbour railway station has five platforms although only four are operational as the tracks were lifted from platform 2, the remaining platforms numbered 1, 2, 3 and 5. The station is managed by South West Trains.
The current station stands on a pier constructed of wood which has become potentially dangerous over the years and with the large car ferries moving close by there is a risk of a collision. There are plans to move the station back to its original position on the viaduct that leads into the harbour.
Wightlink operate a ferry from Portsmouth Harbour Station to Ryde on the Isle of Wight.

- Via Wessex main Line via Southampton to Salisbury and Bristol Temple Meads to Cardiff Central
