Information on London Luton Airport

Officially opened in 1938 as Luton Municipal Airport and owed by Luton Borough Council, located in the East of England 32 miles north of London. Luton is also home to the Arndale Shopping Centre, Luton Town Football Club namely the "Hatters" taken from the the former main Hat making trade in Luton.
Luton is also home to University of Bedforshire and Vauxhall Motors. London Luton Airport is served by the M1 motorway with a journey time of 49 minutes by Taxi, Private Hire, MPV or Limo from Central London. Other road links include the A1 and A5. Nearby towns include, Dunstable, Hatfield, Welwyn Garden City, Stevenage, Hitchin, Hemel Hempsted, Bedford, St.Albans, Watford and Milton Keynes.

In 1999 Luton Airport Parkway railway station was built to serve the airport. Although ideally placed on the Midland Main Line a connection by shuttle bus is still needed from the station to the airport which is about 1/2 a mile away. The station is served by First Capital Connect and links Bedfordhire with Sussex and includes the towns of Bedford, Luton, St Albans, Harpenden, London (St Pancras International) Wimbledon, Sutton, Gatwick Airport and Brighton.
