Information on Lincoln Central Station

Lincoln Central station opened in the High Street of Lincoln City on 17 October 1848 by the Great Northern Railway, with its impressive two storey main section and crenellated tower, tall chimneys and gables, and a steeply pitched roof. Its stonework and Tudor style harmonized well with the a city so powerfully overlooked by the high cathedral.

The first railway station in Lincoln was St Mark's which was opened in 1846 by the Midland Railway, but in 1985 it closed to make way for a new shopping centre. The grand ionic portico that was once the entrance to St Mark's station has been preserved and from January 2007 became the home of Lakeland Limited as part of the commercial development, and in the car park a mock signal box was erected complete with an original sign from the station.

Lincoln Central has five platforms and two through running main lines.
