Harwich International railway station was originally known as Harwich Parkeston Quay named after the GER chairman Charles Parkes and opened on 15 March 1883 and kept its original name until it was changed in 1995.
Harwich International railway station serves the Harwich International Seaport in Essex and is on the Mayflower branch line from Manningtree to Harwich Town. The branch line connects at Manningtree to the London Liverpool Street-Norwich Main Line.
The former hotel between the northern platform and quay is now used for offices.

Semi-fast services designed to connect with Stena Line Ferries to Holland from London Liverpool Street Station - using Class 321 electric multiple units.
Local services operate between manningtree and Harwich Town, many continue to/come from London Liverpool Street. Most operated by class 360 electric multiple units, some are operated by class 321 emus, especially in the eveneings and on Sundays.
Some services between Cambridge and Ipswich are extended to Harwich International to connect with Stena Line Ferries to Holland. These services use diesel multiple units of classes 153, 156 or 170.
One Railway
runs regular services from London Liverpool Street station to Harwich International Station, which adjacent to Harwich Cruise Terminal, taking approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.
Additional "cruise trains" are often provided to coincide with larger cruise arrivals and departures.
