Cardiff Airport

Cardiff Airport began life as a Second World War aerodrome. International commercial services began in 1952 with flights to Dublin. By the 1980s hundreds of thousands of passengers travelled through the airport heading for Mediterranean resorts. Transatlantic links to Canada and Florida had also been established. Steady expansion and development of new facilities meant that a record 2.1 million passengers travelled to destinations around the world in 2007. The airport now offers a range of modern facilities to help holidaymakers make the most of their journey

The Food Village on the first floor of the terminal building provides sandwiches, snacks, hot food and drinks. Burger King is beside the Food Village. Café Ritazza situated after security in the departures lounge, provides teas, coffees, pastries and other hot and cold drinks. The Echo Bar in the departures lounge, offers alcoholic and soft drinks as well as a wide range of food. The Scrum Half Bar in the main terminal building offers alcoholic and soft drinks during normal licensing hours for all departing flights

When it comes to shopping, the Nuance tax and duty free store has great prices for travellers on fragrance, wines & spirits, cosmetics, confectionery, clothing and music and electronics. Bag Boutique sells fashionable bags, shoes, luggage, jewellery and accessories. Found just before security in the departure lounge, WHSmith sells books, newspapers snacks, gifts, tobacco and confectionery.

For those traveling with babies and children there are baby care rooms with changing tables on the first floor of the departure lounge and in the arrivals hall. In the Food Village, baby food is available as are facilities for warming it. Also in the departure lounge is a Children`s Play Centre (where parents are asked to supervise the fun) and a popular hands-on science exhibit. There are two Games Zones available in the terminal with all the latest arcade games

There is a Bureau de Change situated on the first floor of the terminal in the Departures Lounge which is open to all passengers on all outbound international flights. A wide variety of payment methods are accepted. Currency can also be ordered online and collected at the airport. There is a further facility in baggage reclaim for inbound passengers. A cash machine is situated on the first floor of the terminal building.

For increased comfort, there is an Executive Lounge open daily except on key public holidays Access to the lounge can be booked online. Please note that children under 10 are not permitted in the Lounge.

There is a range of options for dropping off and collecting passengers, some of which are free. Short stay and long stay parking are available at the airport. To save on costs, long stay parking can be pre-booked.
Finally, if your journey requires an overnight stay, or you are holidaying in Wales, you will find a warm welcome in any of the many local Cardiff hotels with easy access to the airport.
