Bristol Airport opened in 1957 at Filton and grew steadily into todays International airport and thanks to the no thrills airlines of Easyjet and Go Fly took the airport into the top ten in 2007 with ninth busiest UK airport with 5,926,774 passengers using 58,741 aircraft. Bristol International airport has a CAA Public Use Aerodrome License number P432 which allows it public passenger transport and a flying school. The airport is 8 miles south of Bristol City Centre with easy access to the M5, M4 and A4. Nearest train station is Bristol Temple Meads, 7 miles from the airport with an Express coach servce every 15 minutes at peak times, namely the Bristol International Flyer Express coach service, alternatively you can use one of the many Private Airport Transfers to and from the airport and with a Private Transfer you will be met in the arrivals hall and taken onto your chosen destination by your own personal driver.

Filton was also a major player in the Anglo-French Concorde project where some of it parts were manufactured and on 9th April 1969 the Supersonic Airliner made its maden flight from Filton to RAF Fairford. THen on November 26 2003 after British Airways and Air France had  called time on the famous aircraft Concorde 216 made its and Concordes final flight back to its home at Filton where it is to be kept permanently as a centerpiece. Major aerospace companies are still evident in Bristol and they include BAE Systems, Rolls Royce and AIrbus and all are based at Filton. Cameron Balloons are also part of Bristols aviation heritage and every August sees the city of Bristol hosting the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta, this has become one of the largest hot air balloon events in Europe.
